About
SUNSAGE is my new project. I have just begun writing and, judging by the scope of my research and the story I want to tell, we'll be well into first quarter 2027 before anything that looks like a release.
When the project is finished there will be 3 books: SUNSAGE, MOONSAGE, and STARSAGE.
Here is an early overview:
Fifty thousand years ago, survival was intimate. The dark was absolute, broken only by the crackle of pine wood, grease smoke, and eyes reflecting predator-shine beyond the perimeter of the fire. When the cold crept across the tundra, blood, bone, and kin were all that stood between an exhale and extinction.
Humanity shared the earth with Neanderthals, Denisovans, and ghosts whose names never survived the thaw - each band bound by shared marrow, terror, and the sacred scratch of pigment on limestone.
Today, we have murdered the night. We live in climate-controlled towers, illuminated by the pale glare of glowing glass, connected instantly to eight billion souls while remaining entirely alone in a crowded room. We split atoms, chart galaxies, and feed algorithms that anticipate our darkest cravings. Yet strip away the steel, the fiber optics, and the noise: the nervous system running the machine is identical. The same pulse that thudded against ribs while stalking a mammoth now spikes over a missed notification. We traded physical predators for invisible anxieties, tribal shelter for digital isolation, and the wild, terrifying awe of an untamed planet for an artificial cocoon.
This isn't just a story about how far we’ve traveled - it’s a reckoning with what we left behind in the dark.
