My new YouTube Channel is ticking along - over 20,000 views so far. But it is hard to get new subscribers - people are hesitant in case they get spammed by A.I. www.youtube.com/@RoyStanton-AUTHOR
Speaking of A.I. there are a LOT of posts and articles lately about the evils of A.I. and why people like me should never use it. I disagree. While I totally agree that people out there "writing" 50 books a year on A.I. are a nuisance who out-algorithm me and others on Amazon, I support the use of A.I. as a promotional tool or adjunct for people who have written a book (by themselves) and need an assist to market it.
Besides, there is real work involved in using A.I. - it doesn't just magically produce videos that are "awesome". I often produce half a dozen images and 4 or 5 videos just to get ONE clip to post on YouTube. Then I have to fight SEO and platform-specific algorithms to get any views at all. It ain't all wine and roses!
And I've earned the right to use these tools. I researched and wrote my own books, I edited all my books, and I've written over 50 queries for literary agents who won't even look at me unless I have 100k+ followers on TikTok, and can "guarantee" them a return of $5k or better - the average amount they need to make in sales so they and the publisher break even.
